Home
Even though the sunset from our hotel room was spectacular
and I got to eat bread (and all other forms of carbohydrates as well - yum)
and the transportation system was so foreign and different that it was fun
and the architecture was simply beautiful
and the view from Central Park just can't be beat . . . .
It was beyond words nice to come HOME to this . . .
A little bit of pretend sleeping that these little guys just had to join.
By the way, this started because my boy wanted to take a picture of me while I was "sleeping" ("You close your eyes, Momma"). Dirck helped him hold the camera, and he pushed the button. My little lady joined in, and then my boy couldn't stand it any longer and decided he wanted to play. . . all the while telling his daddy to "take another picture."
It really is good to be home!

Birthday
Exactly one year ago today, I started this little blog-o-mine. I started it as a way to chronicle my families' lives and to force myself to document all the small things that I love about them and being a mother in general.
So far . . . so good.
Happy 1 year Birthday, little blog-o-mine!
Also, it's my birthday today . . . . AND the husband and I are in NYC having an amazingly wonderful time eating anything we want and walking the city streets.
There is a LONG story to go with this image, but I'm just gonna say that it's a lovely birthday greeting from our hotel to yours truly.
Seriously, the weather here is killer! I'm going to try to go out today to take some pictures of the city.
Enjoy your weekend!

Out and About
Took a lovely little trip to the doughnut shop this weekend. They got cool hats.
My boy insists on a chocolate doughnut with sprinkles. My girl is just happy to be there.
After we ate, they got to watch through a large window as the doughnuts were being made.
And a dear, sweet man asked if I wanted him to take a picture of us together.
I did.
Gotta love the kindness of strangers at the doughnut shop!

Yeah . . . What He Said
At the park he was digging in the mulch. I asked if he was a dog digging for a bone. He said, "No, I'm digging for a treasure chest." When I asked him what was in the treasure chest, he got VERY excited and said, "Golden stickers and popsicles and cupcakes. . . and good meat like chicken and pork chops!!"
I overheard him telling his sister "Hi. You're my best friend." It made my heart melt, and then later that day, while sitting in the "time-out" chair, I heard him telling our dog, Maddie the same thing.

He told me he wanted a wildebeest costume for Halloween this year. He says his sister wants an eagle costume.
He understands emotions now. He can tell when I'm frustrated, and he comes up to me and pats me on my leg with a little hug and says "Don't worry, Momma. It's OK."
There are many, many more, but just a few I remembered and wanted to share.
Geez, I just don't think I could love this kid any more!!!

Epiphanie Bags
Check out this blog. The bags looks super cute, stylish and practical and . . . . . they are giving away a Canon 5D. I would be thrilled to win it, but also thrilled for any of my Internet buddies that may win it as well. Check out their site for details.
Best of Luck!

The Trophy
"Hey Mom."
Yeah, big boy . . . what's up?
"Look at my trophy."
Yeah, big guy, I see it. Very nice. Where did you get that trophy?
"This is a golden trophy. I won it playing baseball when I hit a homerun!"
Oh. . . Well, that's pretty impressive.
"Hey Mom."
Yeah, big boy . . . what's up?
"Take a picture of my trophy."
OK. (I make a little square with my hands, put it in front of my face and say "click" to take the picture).
"No mom. A REAL picture with your camera."
So here you are, Internet. A picture of my little guy's prized golden trophy that he won when he hit a homerun. I hate that I missed that baseball game.
Have a great weekend!
