Summer Vacation

We headed down to Florida to hang out at the Beach for a week, but along the way, we stopped in Mississippi and visited with my family. The trip to Mississippi is a long drive . . . I mean a REALLY LONG drive. I do have to say that for the entire 11 hours, these kiddos were good troopers. PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

Oh, and driving through the Mississippi Delta at night will leave your window looking like this . . . and for the record, those bug guts are very, very hard to wash off. Photobucket

Once we got to Mississippi, my boy lost his first tooth! He was pretty excited & the tooth fairy left him a very generous donation for this first tooth! Photobucket

We loved visiting with family while we were there. Uncle Allen helped us fish in his pond. Photobucket

We got to visit and play with our cute cousin - Carey Beth. Photobucket

My boy got to "drive" this tractor. Photobucket

And I just love seeing my kiddos with my Papaw - he's their great-grandfather, and I'd swear he loves them more and more each time we see him! PhotobucketPhotobucket

Just like everytime we head home, it's never long enough. I'm so glad my children will have these memories of Mississippi. We left here and traveled the last 7 hours of the trip down to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. More to come in a later post.

Happy day!

Saying Goodbye

For the past 5 years, my kiddos have seen this beautiful woman on a weekly (almost daily) basis. She has become their local grandmother, and oh, how she loves them (and they, her).  This is the last week that they will attend daycare with Grandma June. Photobucket I may have cried more today than I did when I left my tiny 8 week old in her most capable & loving hands so many years ago.

Our Epic Rainbow Party

This girl loves color. . .

Photobucket

So who am I to deny her? She celebrated her grand 4 years on earth with a lovely rainbow party - complete with rainbow cookies, rainbow drinks, rainbow fruit, rainbow cake & rainbow sherbert . . . along with a very cute rainbow outfit that she could hardly wait until her party to wear.

Four years already . . . where does the time go? Love ya, little bug! Happy birthday!

The Chalk Walk

We spent Saturday afternoon at the Chalk Walk in the historic Northeast neighborhood of Kansas City.  There were people there of all talents - from really, beautiful complicated chalk art to local neighborhood kids that requested their own square to decorate.  We got there just as the festival was starting, so we didn't see too many completed projects (and then it rained today, so we couldn't go back), but we managed to borrow some colorful chalk and we left our own little mark on a secluded sidewalk at the park. Just spending the weekend enjoying the simple things. Hope you are too!

The MOMENT

Here we are.

Photobucket

I need a shower . . . and some highlights.

My kids are dirty . . . like over-the-top-we-just-ate-chocolate-ice-cream-bars-all-over-our-faces dirty.

BUT . . . the moment is lovely. The MOMENT is fun.
The MOMENT is why I took and posted this picture.

I want my kiddos to remember these MOMENTS. What about you?  What do you want to remember?
