Today

We spent some time outside enjoying this unseasonably warm spring. It was 80 degrees today! Eighty degrees! We soaked up as much of this as we possibly could.

Dirck mowed the grass for the first time this season. My boy made a fun little game of looking for the mower to come around the corner and then running as fast as he could away from the path of the mowing. He called it "Freaking Out" and wanted me and his sister to come "Freak Out" with him. We did, and it was so fun! I think we shall have to "Freak Out" together more often!

We finished the evening with a little bit of sunshine peaking through and a pair of kiddos that were miraculously, getting along! :)

Oh, how I love these days!

Delicious Treasures

Dirck and I have been talking about mushroom hunting for a few years now. He decided that this year was the year we would go, and started researching when Morel mushrooms would be in prime season around here.

Lo-and-behold, I was out in the back yard today and found these guys.  So weird that we were just talking about this, and then here they are . . . right in our backyard. We didn't even have to go hunt for them.

Yep, they look pretty dirty in the picture, but I cleaned them very well and fried them up in some flour and butter.  Holy-Moley, these were incredible!

I hope I can find some more out there.  I'll be looking, for sure!

Simplicity

I made some tea for Dirck this morning. There's nothing extraordinary or unusual about that - it was just a pitcher of tea.

But there was something about the way the light was coming in the window when I poured that hot water into the pitcher. I watched as the steam lifted up and danced about in the sunshine streaming in from the east facing window above our kitchen sink. It was so simple, and so pretty. I wasn't sure I'd be able to capture it, but I had to try, right?

Enjoy your weekend!

Another Year

Of all the things I could wish for on my birthday, there's really nothing that could compare to these two. Really, they are the best presents I could ever have been given.

I'm so very thankful.

So very, very thankful.

I have a lot to celebrate.

I'm looking forward to another year of being their mama.

In addition to being my birthday, it's my bloggy-bday too! This marks my 3rd year of documenting our family life - think I'll give it a go for another year! Yay!

You Know What They Say . . .

Dirty kids are happy kids.

If that saying is true, then these two were very, very happy.

Injured

One little monkey, jumping on the bed
One fell off and bumped his head
Mama called the Doctor
And the Doctor said
No More Monkeys Jumping On The Bed

Despite having read these lines numerous times, a lesson learned is unfortunately learned best the hard way.

Photobucket

This little monkey won't be jumping on any more beds any time soon.

Field Trip

Field trips are much more fun when you get to ride the yellow bus.

Our Everyday

Quiet times at home.
Eating, Playing, Sleeping - nothing truly extraordinary, but maybe that's why I like it.  Life doesn't need to be extraordinary to be special and meaningful.
