March's Self Portrait

Whew! I barely made this month's self challenge!

Me and my little lady.

Right after waking from her nap.

Love, love, love her!

Well . . .

maybe not exactly what you were thinking . . . .

but fun, none-the-less.

Have a wonderful week!

Even though the sunset from our hotel room was spectacular

and I got to eat bread (and all other forms of carbohydrates as well - yum)

and the transportation system was so foreign and different that it was fun

and the architecture was simply beautiful

and the view from Central Park just can't be beat . . . .

It was beyond words nice to come HOME to this . . .

A little bit of pretend sleeping that these little guys just had to join.

By the way, this started because my boy wanted to take a picture of me while I was "sleeping" ("You close your eyes, Momma"). Dirck helped him hold the camera, and he pushed the button. My little lady joined in, and then my boy couldn't stand it any longer and decided he wanted to play. . . all the while telling his daddy to "take another picture."

It really is good to be home!

and that wonderful little lady too.

Exactly one year ago today, I started this little blog-o-mine. I started it as a way to chronicle my families' lives and to force myself to document all the small things that I love about them and being a mother in general.

So far . . . so good.

Happy 1 year Birthday, little blog-o-mine!

Also, it's my birthday today . . . . AND the husband and I are in NYC having an amazingly wonderful time eating anything we want and walking the city streets.

There is a LONG story to go with this image, but I'm just gonna say that it's a lovely birthday greeting from our hotel to yours truly.

Seriously, the weather here is killer! I'm going to try to go out today to take some pictures of the city.

Enjoy your weekend!

Bed Heads

Messy bed hair is the best on a little one.

Don't you think?

Have a great day!

Head-Strong. Stubborn. Bullheaded. Determined. Firm. Adamant. Set-In-Her-Ways. Unyielding. Steadfast. Persistent. Tenacious. Unbendable.

Can't you see it in her eyes (er . . . I mean eye)?

She refuses to wear her sunglasses any other way.

Who am I to tell her any different?

I Heart Faces "Bundled Up" Challenge

My little man.

Eating snow.

His sister showed him how to do this

To see more "Bundled Up" images, head on over to
i heart faces.

Out and About

Took a lovely little trip to the doughnut shop this weekend. They got cool hats.

My boy insists on a chocolate doughnut with sprinkles. My girl is just happy to be there.

After we ate, they got to watch through a large window as the doughnuts were being made.

And a dear, sweet man asked if I wanted him to take a picture of us together.

I did.

Gotta love the kindness of strangers at the doughnut shop!

Yeah . . . What He Said

At the park he was digging in the mulch. I asked if he was a dog digging for a bone. He said, "No, I'm digging for a treasure chest." When I asked him what was in the treasure chest, he got VERY excited and said, "Golden stickers and popsicles and cupcakes. . . and good meat like chicken and pork chops!!"

I overheard him telling his sister "Hi. You're my best friend." It made my heart melt, and then l
ater that day, while sitting in the "time-out" chair, I heard him telling our dog, Maddie the same thing.

He told me he wanted a wildebeest costume for Halloween this year. He says his sister wants an eagle costume.

He understands emotions now. He can tell when I'm frustrated, and he comes up to me and pats me on my leg with a little hug and says "Don't worry, Momma. It's OK."

There are many, many more, but just a few I remembered and wanted to share.

Geez, I just don't think I could love this kid any more!!!

Baby Talk

I'll love you forever.

I'll like you for always.

As long as I'm living.

My baby, you'll be.

Do you ever catch your little one in a moment

with a serious expression on their face

and wonder what in the world they are thinking

or just wonder in amazement at how they process information

or is this just me?

Dreaming of this day.

When we get to climb mountains.

And fly in the swings.

And climb into caves.

All under the beautiful sun.

Have a happy day!

Rock On

Is it possible . . .

that one day this could be a real guitar . . .

and a real stage . . .

with me down in the pit . . .

taking his picture up there?

Yeah, it's possible.

Rock on, little man. Rock on

Hello Sunshine

Hello there Mr. Sunshine.

We have missed you very much.

Thank you for coming out and playing with us.

Oh . . . and can you tell your next-door-neighbor, Mr. Blue Sky, that it was great to see him too.

We're looking forward to seeing you both again soon.

I love to hear the giggles and squeals coming from the backseat.

Even better,

I love to see HER

laughing at HIM

as if they were the BEST of FRIENDS.

Seriously, this whole motherhood thing keeps getting better everyday.

Epiphanie Bags

Check out this blog. The bags looks super cute, stylish and practical and . . . . . they are giving away a Canon 5D. I would be thrilled to win it, but also thrilled for any of my Internet buddies that may win it as well. Check out their site for details.

Best of Luck!

The Trophy

"Hey Mom."

Yeah, big boy . . . what's up?

"Look at my trophy."

Yeah, big guy, I see it. Very nice. Where did you get that trophy?

"This is a golden trophy. I won it playing baseball when I hit a homerun!"

Oh. . . Well, that's pretty impressive.

"Hey Mom."

Yeah, big boy . . . what's up?

"Take a picture of my trophy."

OK. (I make a little square with my hands, put it in front of my face and say "click" to take the picture).

"No mom. A REAL picture with your camera."

So here you are, Internet. A picture of my little guy's prized golden trophy that he won when he hit a homerun. I hate that I missed that baseball game.

Have a great weekend!

I'm so stinkin' excited about this - I can hardly stand it.

She finally has enough hair for a simple little clip (it stayed in most of the day).

I see bows and ribbons and sparkly things in her future!
